Worx diy Planter Box
🛠️ Materials & Tools You'll Need:
✅ Wood (Cedar or Redwood – durable & weather-resistant)
✅ Tape Measure
✅ Circular Saw or Hand Saw
✅ Drill & Screws (or nails & hammer)
✅ Wood Glue
✅ Sandpaper (120 grit)
✅ Clamps (for securing while assembling)
✅ Wood Stain or Outdoor Sealant
✅ Landscaping Fabric (optional, for drainage)
🔨 Step 1: Measure & Cut the Wood
✂️ Grab your tape measure and mark out the following pieces on your wooden boards:
- 2 Long Side Panels (e.g., 36” x 12”)
- 2 Short End Panels (e.g., 18” x 12”)
- 1 Bottom Panel (e.g., 34” x 16”)
🔪 Use a circular saw or hand saw to cut each piece cleanly. Sand the edges lightly to remove rough splinters.
🔗 Step 2: Assemble the Frame
🛠️ Line up the two long side panels and attach the short end panels using wood glue and screws. Clamp the corners for stability.
🔩 Pre-drill holes before inserting screws to prevent the wood from splitting. Tighten everything so your frame is sturdy and square.
📦 Step 3: Attach the Bottom Panel
✅ Flip the frame upside down and attach the bottom panel. Drill pilot holes and screw it in place.
💡 Pro Tip: If you’re planting directly in the box, drill a few drainage holes in the bottom panel to prevent root rot.
🛠️ Step 4: Sand & Finish
🪵 Use 120-grit sandpaper to smooth out all surfaces and edges.
🎨 Apply a weatherproof wood stain or sealant to protect against moisture, UV rays, and rot. Let it dry completely before moving on.
🌱 Step 5: Line & Fill Your Planter Box
✔️ If using landscaping fabric, cut a piece to fit inside and staple it to the inner walls for extra drainage.
✔️ Add a layer of gravel or small stones at the bottom for aeration.
✔️ Fill with high-quality potting soil and plant your favorite flowers, herbs, or vegetables!
