Worx Brilliant Power Tool Storage Idea
Here’s a step-by-step guide to building a wall-mounted power tool storage rack with a built-in charging station. This will keep your tools organized, easily accessible, and ready to use.
Materials Needed
- 1x4" wooden boards (for the frame and tool slots)
- ¾" plywood (for the back panel)
- Screws (1½” wood screws)
- Wood glue
- Power strip (optional for a charging station)
- Drill
- Saw (circular or table saw)
- Measuring tape
- Sandpaper
- Wood stain or paint (optional for finishing)
Step 1: Cut Your Wood Pieces
- Back Panel: Cut a piece of ¾" plywood to 30” wide x 20” high (or adjust to your space).
- Side Panels: Cut two 1x4" boards to 20” long for the sides.
- Top & Bottom Panels: Cut two 1x4" boards to 30” long for the top and bottom.
- Tool Slots: Cut multiple 1x4" boards to 12” long, then cut U-shaped slots into them to hold drills.
Step 2: Assemble the Frame
- Attach the side panels to the back panel using wood glue and screws.
- Attach the top and bottom panels to complete the rectangular frame.
Step 3: Install the Tool Slots
- Mark evenly spaced slots for your drills (about 4” apart).
- Cut U-shaped slots using a hole saw or jigsaw to fit the handles of your drills.
- Attach the tool slot boards inside the frame using screws.
Step 4: Add a Power Strip (Optional)
- Mount a power strip to the side or bottom of the storage rack to create a charging station.
Step 5: Sand & Finish
- Sand all edges to remove rough spots.
- Apply wood stain, paint, or sealant for a polished look.
Step 6: Mount It on the Wall
- Locate studs in your wall using a stud finder.
- Secure the storage rack to the studs with 3” screws for stability.
