Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Cut the Desktop
- Use a 4 ft x 2 ft plywood or pine board as your desktop.
- If needed, cut it to size using a circular saw or hand saw.
Step 2: Sand the Surface
- Start with 120-grit sandpaper and smooth all sides.
- Finish with 220-grit for a polished look.
Step 3: Apply Stain or Finish
- Apply wood stain for a natural look or paint if you want color.
- Let it dry completely before assembling (about 4-6 hours).
Step 4: Attach the Legs
- Option 1: Hairpin Legs – Screw them directly onto the corners.
- Option 2: Sawhorse Stands – Place the desktop on top of them (no screws needed).
- Ensure the legs are evenly spaced and the desk is level.
Step 5: Secure the Desktop (Optional)
- If using sawhorse stands, add L-brackets or wood screws underneath to prevent shifting.
Step 6: Final Touches
- Check for wobbles and tighten screws.
- Add felt pads to the bottom of the legs to protect floors.
